Sqirl

My friend Crystal recently took me for toast and tea at a new(ish) cafe in Silver Lake called Sqirl. Opened by jam and perserve maker Jessica Koslow, Sqirl features a small selection of just about perfect tasting food. Open for breakfast and lunch, they specialize in "toast" and "porridge" topped with ingredients ranging from the savory to the very sweet. I bought some jam to take home with me (seascape strawberry and rose geranium) and can't wait to try to recreate that homey porridge, rich with whole milk and topped with jam and hazelnuts.
