Webisode x LookTV: Everyday Makeup with Beatrice Valenzuela

The latest installment of the LA in Bloom x Look TV web series was born out of necessity. Bottom line: I don't know squat about makeup. My moment of enlightenment arrived last summer while filming a cooking video with my friend Beatrice. Before the cameras started rolling, she looked at my naked face and said, "Um, you're about to be on camera, can we put some makeup on you, please?" Of course she was right (when Bea isn't designing her coveted line of handmade shoes, she is doing hair, makeup and styling for some of LA's coolest ladies)! Thankfully, Bea agreed to show me how to put together a quick and easy everyday makeup look. She has also shared her awesome shopping list (below), destined to quell all anxiety when walking through the doors of Sephora. Hope you enjoy. Oh, and we did a little Q&A:

Heather Taylor: What is your favorite lipstick for fall?
Beatrice Valenzuela: Red Square, Velvet Matte Lip Pencil by Nars.

HBT: What about nail polish?
BV: Toasted Marshmallow by Nubar.

HBT: What is your secret to fresh faced, dewy skin?
BV: Drink lots of water.

HBT: What perfume are you loving?
BV: It is called Coco-Coco by Coqui-Coqui. I purchased it in Tulum but you can get it at Dream Collective.

HBT: What is your number one most cherished beauty secret?
BV: Deep condition your hair once or twice a week. Leave it in for at least 15-20 minutes.

Beatrice Valenzuela's Shopping List:

Laura Mercier Concealer
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 - Oil Free
Nars Blush Bronzer Duo (Orgasm/Lacuna)
Nars Duo Cream Eyeshadow (Madagascar)
Chocolate Powderline Pencil from Mia Cosmetics
Dior Diorshow Mascara (Chestnut 698)
Nars Lipstick (Roman Holiday)

I would love to hear from YOU! What are your favorite makeup and beauty brands, colors, scents, etc!? Please share. Let's get beautiful together xoHBT

Love that Roman Holiday from Nars. Was thinking of retiring it since fall is approaching, but maybe I should keep it around a little longer.

this is so inspiring! i NEED that chocolate powderline pencil. i never know what to do with my eyes, but that pencil looks so easy!

you know how i love my funny face by nars, but lately i've been using a lot of the stila lipstick. the "outrageous" color is great for day and night because it's a bright coral, and also loving "adorable" (nude), and "lover" (deep red).

Love how easy this all looks. She did a great job on your make-up!

I used to wear Red Square, but I prefer a lipstick texture to a crayon.

I love your make-up - am a fellow red lipstick fan, my top three are Bobbi Brown Red, MAC Chilli and MAC Ruby Woo. Also love YSL eye liner. On the days I don't wear red lipstick, I use Indian kajal eyeliner (great to line the inside of the bottom lid) and MAC See Sheer lipstick, a lovely soft peach-coral colour.

This is so helpful! I still don't know much about makeup. I started using a foundation about a year ago and I love lipstick (especially Manhunt by Nars), but my knowledge pretty much ends there.

That said, with foundation I started with Clinique, but then I kept reading about how toxic a lot of makeup products are. Since I am so specific about eating wholesome and often organic food I thought that it was silly that I was so ignorant when it comes to what I put on my skin. So I made the switch to non-toxic mineral makeup and now use Jane Iredale foundation and LOVE it!

I know that the whole toxic ingredient issues makes makeup even more complicated, but it is good to keep it in mind.

Keep the videos coming!

Love this. My favorite make-up obsession is actually watching Lisa Eldridge videos. They are unbelievably addictive and have caused me to add many, many things to my makeup bag! www.lisaeldridge.com

Beatrice recommends deep conditioning weekly. What conditioner does she like?

1. So so jealous of your eyebrows. And you don't even pencil them in! Total perfection.

2. Interesting that Beatrice used concealer on your eyelids. I always use Trish MmEvoy's Eye Base Essentials for crease-free eye makeup, which works wonders, but I'd love to know if concealer works, too.

3. Anything by Diego Dalla Palma is worth its weight in gold. It's difficult to find in the States, but it's ahhhmazing. The pigments are fantastic and the finish is luxurious. Especially the nail colors!

Thanks for another great video, Heather!

Your eyebrows are to die for!!!

Lovely video, and you look beautiful. Makeup should be quick and easy, and just enhance your beauty not conceal (which is exactly what y'all accomplished!)

I always wear my Aveda moisture plus tint, Burt's Bees tinted lip balm (hibiscus), and Almay mascara. Pretty simple.
