A couple of weeks ago I went to an inspired summer dinner party in one of my favorite LA neighborhoods, Rustic Canyon. Shiva Rose invited a bunch of us girls for a vegetarian feast in her woodsy backyard. Every detail was perfectly appointed: linens by Rachel Craven, flowers by Mooncanyon and an feast by Paper Palate. The menu highlighted all the great summer produce - heirloom tomato torte with purple basil pesto, for example. My favorite dish was the purple kale with ricotta and plums. Can't wait to recreate that at home!

Thank you to our gorgeous hostess Shiva!

So much inspiration in one menu! I would love to hear how you make the purple kale with ricotta and plums.

Ummm, blowing my MIND!!!
Weird question, Heather, but do you have mosquitos in LA? I was trying to enjoy the outdoors tonight but in my part of the world, I got absolutely eaten alive.
Looks like a perfect evening!
And Shiva's dress is so beautiful!
What a fabulous dinner- seems like something out of a perfectly prepared movie set =) xo Sal
